Students who are absent three consecutive days, without any contact from the parent explaining the absence, will be dropped.
Contract for Independent Study (CIS) is for those studens who will be out of school a minimum of five days (per District policy). Students may use this contract for school work and attendance credit. Maximum days out is left to site principal's discretion.
Students who arrive at school after 8:00 are tardy. They may NOT enter class without a tardy slip from the front office. If the tardy is unexcused, they are to miss their recess for that day and sit at the tardy table in the lunch arbor. (Students do not miss recess if their tardy is for a medical or dental appointment, e.g.) Teachers send the students to the table with the white tardy slip. This slip will be stamped by the counseling assistant on duty. The student then returns to the class and gives the slip to the classroom teacher who keeps the stamped slip on file. If slip is not stamped, student did not go to the table and teacher may keep the student in for the following recess or fifteen minutes after school, per teacher discretion.
Students arriving 30 minutes late or later to school follow the same procedure as above; however, it is considered and documented as a truant tardy.
Once students receive three truant tardies they may be assigned to Wednesday School with the Campus Security Officer (CSO) to make up missed classwork. Teachers make this arrangement directly with the CSO and are responsible for notifying parents of the assignment.
