SDSU is one of many options that students of the Collaborative have. City College, Mesa, Grossmont or one of the many other local community colleges are excellent options to continue education.

Trade or technical schools are a great alternative to college, they offer training in specific professions from high tech computer to cabinetmaking and cosmetology to commercial art.

With a core mission of teaching, research and community service, SDSU is uniquely suited to address the challenges of partnering with Price Charities, SDUSD and the community to provide a quality education as part of the revitalization of City Heights.

The College of Education at San Diego State University offers a wide variety of programs, including those that prepare professional educators for elementary, middle, and high school positions.

SDSU operates the largest bilingual-teacher preparation program in the state.

SDSU has a strong research agenda and operates numerous community and social programs in City Heights/Mid City community.

SDSU collaborates with CHEC in a guaranteed admission partnership called "College Avenue Compact to help students reach the admission requirements through a wide range of support that includes:
- Presentations about college requirements
- Parent and student visits to SDSU
- SDSU advisors work with Hoover counselors
- Individualized four-year student plans
- SAT/ACT test information and preparation
- Financial aid information
- Mentoring, tutoring and guidance at Hoover and SDSU
- Collaboration between SDSU and Hoover faculty
