Investing in our Teachers future!

This year more than a dozen teachers at Rosa Parks, Monroe Clark and Hover High earned degrees. Many others are expected to finish next year, while a new group of CHEC teachers and staff will begin in the fall at SDSU. Congratulations!

The Collaborative supports and encourages teachers in pursuing programs of advanced studies at SDSU> City Heights students have in turn benefited from teachers who are highly skilled and who have received masters degrees in Curriculum and Instruction, Gifted and Talented certificates, Reading Specialist Credentials, and Math Specialist Certificates. Each year since the initial development of the City Heghts Educational Collaborative, teachers continue to be life-long learners. Since CHEC began 10 years ago, more than 100 teachers have completed advanced credentials and degrees through the Collaborative's tuition support program.

SDSU faculty continue to provide support and university perspective to teachers, students, staff, and CHEC programs at Collaborative schools. In addition, veteran teachers from Collaborative schools serve as guide teachers to SDSU student teachers.

The 2008-09 school year kick off will be held at SDSU during the last week of August with details of new professional development opportunities for all staff in the City Heights Educational Collborative.
